Learn to intuitively steep any type of tea with confidence and without the need of teabags, metric or superfluous accessories. We will explore the alchemies of earth, water, air and fire and you will come to know: Water (temperature, type and mineral content (TDS)) Fire (gas, electric, conduction and wood burning), Air (external temperature & environment), Earth (tea leaf styles and the benefits and drawbacks of various types of clay and other materials for teaware).
You will learn how to chose a tea and a steeping vessel for every season, gathering or mood.
We will cover concepts such as The Agony of the Leaf, open vessel steeping and you will understand the design and functionality of different kinds of teaware including the tea bowl, gaiwan, shiboridashi, houhin, side-handle and western style teapots.
You will:
