Ritual: The Art and Ritual of Tea

Tea is an ancient plant spirit medicine— a balm for the body, a tonic for the spirit and a salve for the soul.

Whether you are sipping a meditative bowl of matcha, a lively chai or leaves plucked from an old tea grove, there is something magical, beautiful and sometimes even life-changing about slowing down, sitting quietly and watching the steam rise. Tasting in one sip, a practice almost as old as time--a communion with all of humankind.

A transcendent cup of tea is as sublimely simple as water and leaves.

Remember that the magic is in the leaf and once you begin, the details --which teaware to choose, how much tea to use, what water temperature is ideal and how long to steep the leaves will become intuitive knowing over time.

Bring your awareness to the aroma and the taste.

Feel the tea in your mouth- its warmth and weight- and then notice the way that your physical and emotional states begin to shift.

Listen to your inner wisdom as it begins to speak to you more loudly.

Before long, you might find that tea is your favorite time of day,  a time when you begin to notice the luxury in simplicity, the beauty in stillness and the power of your True Nature.
