Use:

"ELDERBERRY SYRUP RECIPE
1. Bring .5 cups elderberries and 1.5 cups of water to a boil.
2. Optional inclusions: Add 2 inches of grated or chopped ginger root and/ or 1-2 pieces of astragalus root and/or one cinnamon stick.
3. Simmer with the lid on for 40 minutes- one hour.
4. Allow the pot to sit at room temperature for one hour with the lid on. 5. Strain the liquid through a strainer into a jar.
6. Add one cup of manuka or local honey and stir.
7. Put the lid on the jar and store in the refrigerator.
8. To serve, add 1 Tablespoon per person to 6 ounces of water or sparkling water. Add a squeeze of lemon juice if you would like."
