Sacred Copal Incense
Sacred Copal Incense
Copal, a resin for healing and purification, is derived from the Protium Copal tree, a member of the Burseraceae tree family indigenous to Mexico and Central America.
The sacred nature of Copal is evidenced in ancient stories and texts across the world. The Bible tells us that Copal was one of the first gifts given to Jesus as a baby. It was known in Native American cultures as a food of the gods and offered as a sacrament to keep the wheel of life turning. Found in ancient burial sites from South America to Egypt, Copal is known as the frankincense of the Americas for its use as a space cleansing and healing smoke.
Traditionally burned to clear negative energy, to connect us with a higher consciousness and to carry our prayers and wishes to the gods, it also is used as a natural bug repellant.
INVITATION FOR USE
Light the end of the stick and allow it to burn for a few seconds. Then, blow out the flame.
Place the Copal in an incense holder over a fire-proof tray inside or outside and speak your wishes into the smoke as it lifts towards the sky.
OR, walk around a space allowing the smoke to rid the area of stagnant energies (or summer pests)
When you are finished, snuff the end of the incense.
