Karhu Kettle

Hand-cast in Taiwan
personal practice & ceremony
Sale price$255.00

Every tea session starts with a kettle to hold and heat the water to steep tea. The kettle sets the mood for tea time and becomes an emblem of the connective essence of tea over time

Designed in Taiwan with a wabi-sabi aesthetic in mind, the 1.7 Liter Karhu features a double-fired, high quality ceramic base, a teak top and a bamboo handle.

FEATURES:

  • 1700 mL (1,7 L/ 58 ounces)
  • Can heat water on the stovetop, an electric infrared burner or a brazier with a gas lamp.
  • Please rinse first.
  •  Before use, boil a full kettle of water and discard the water.
  • Please always keep filled at least half way full to prevent burning
  • Do not ever wash with soap.
  • A kettle is meant for holding water only (not tea) so does not have to be washed at all, but should be dried out every so often.
  • Take care to keep gas flames on medium to low so as to not scorch the bamboo handle

What Makes our Teaware Special?

An old Chinese proverb says that water is the mother of tea and teaware is the father. Both are integral to the experience so we source handcrafted teaware from ceramic artisans across the world in order to enhance your tea.
